2008 Saddle Shootout
~ CLASS RULES ~
- The Saddle Shootout Class will consist of 12 works (no more, no less);
- Four (4) classes are eligible for the Saddle Shootout Class:
Non Pro
20000 Non Pro
10000 Amateur
500 Non Pro
- The Shootout Class will consist of those competitors that have placed in the TOP TWO from each of the eligible classes (year end standings) and as many Wildcard selections needed to make the total number of works;
- All competitors qualifying in one of the eligible classes or as a Wildcard entry for the Shootout must have shown in at least 50% of the shows;
- The Shootout Class will take place as the last class at the last show;
- All competitors qualifying to ride in the Shootout Class must be present to win. Any qualifying competitors that are not able to participate in the Shootout Class will open up an additional Wildcard spot. Final year end scores will be tabulated and announced at the last show prior to the Shootout Class, to confirm entries;
- Shootout Class competitors will pay a cattle fee only and receive a minimum of 2 fresh cattle per entry;
- Ties will be either worked off or coin flip – competitors’ choice;
- Competitors must own the horse that they ride in the Shootout;
- Each qualifier rides only once in the Shootout, even if they have made the top two in more than one of the eligible classes;
- By qualifying to ride in the Shootout in more than one class, that qualifier has automatically opened up a “Wildcard” spot for another competitor. The Wildcard spots ensure the total number of entries in the Shootout class;
- The Wildcard spots will be determined by using the Saddle Shootout High Point Year End List, which will be a list of the high point riders in the four (4) eligible classes (in previous years, the same type of list was used to determine the Year End NP Champion). Those competitors riding in the Shootout as a result of placing in the top two of one of the eligible classes will be “removed” from the Saddle Shootout High Point Year End List (because they have already qualified). The remaining names on the list now make up the Wildcard list. Riders from the Wildcard list will be taken in order of total points, with as many riders selected to fill Wildcard spots as are needed to fill the total number of entries for the Saddle Shootout Class.
- There will be two awards given for the Saddle Shootout Class. The winner will receive the Saddle Shootout Champion Saddle. The Saddle Shootout Reserve Champion will receive a certificate for Custom Chaps.
